Yesterday, while sitting at the computer bored out of my skull, I got a call from my friend here explaining that she was also bored out of her skull and would I like to go out to a cafe with her?
The laptop was immediately shut down and I was ready to go in 10 minutes. She’s been so busy with wedding plans (she’s getting married in a month) that I haven’t seen her in weeks. It doesn’t matter that we talk a few times as week always planning to meet up… it usually doesn’t happen for a while because our schedules clash.
But we were finally able to meet up for a late lunch at our favorite caf? in Medborgarplatsen, followed by a nice walk and quick subway ride through the city the best ice cream I’ve had in Sweden since I moved here.

We went up to Karlaplan – an area of the city I’ve only been to a handful of times since moving here 2 years ago. We went to some pasta and ice cream place right outside of the subway station there and then took our treats to a bench in one of the prettiest little parks I’ve been in. All over people were walking their small, fluffy dogs (my favorite), and we were right by a soothing fountain.
I had two scoops – one mint chocolate, the other chocolate cookies’n'cream. Those are flavors an American like me is familiar with, but not so common among Swedish ice cream flavors. It was so good! Reminded me of going out for ice cream with my family on summer evenings. Something I miss every once in a while.
I’m definitely going to be a regular customer there this summer.

ooh…cookies and cream are my favourites!!
MMM ice cream. My favorite that they only bring out around here in the fall is pumpkin pie ice cream.
Illo, this is the first time BE directed me to your blog. I just wanted to say hi, and I have!
I am a golden god!
Mint chocolate! I would kill for some of that. By the way, congratualtions on the book illustration deal. That’s amazing!
