Illo Friday: Summer

summer

For this Illo friday entry I wanted to convey a few things I miss about summers greatly.

1) Roasting marshmallows
2) fireflies, and
3) watching the stars

As much as I love Swedish summers, and the nearly eternal daylight we get in Stockholm, summer will always feel like it’s missing “something.” Fireflies don’t exist here, marshmallows are hard to find, and the sky is too light at night to see the stars.

This was a great topic. Thanks Illo Friday.

  1. ohh luv star gazing myself… dreaming how tiny they seemed here and yet when gazed from there how our planet seemed a speck.
hmm.. luv surrounding myself with artists hehe 8)

  2. I just love your illustration. I don’t have the opportunity to be around fireflies often (we live in Oregon) but I find them so charming and magical!

Good luck with your Swedish sweetie! LOL

  9. Nice…well, I know what you mean. We’re sharing same feelings here.

BUT, I just have to say something. When I was little and spent the summers on our boat we had fireflies. I still remember them (and on what island). They were all hanging above a bush…….very nice. Nice memories too.

  10. I like the fire. It looks so calm for something that we normally think as fierce.
