This week’s Illustration Friday topic, “Heroes,” is rather appropriate, I think.
I remember one time, when I was working at Starbucks long ago, this nut I worked with spent about 10 minutes trying to convince me that Che Guevara should be my hero, as he was his, for some unknown reason. I wanted to slap him. When he finally asked me who my hero was I didn’t even have to think about it.
My Dad.
For all the strength my dad has had in his life while he’s suffered from illness after illness, for the way he looks to the silver lining on every cloud, for his wise answers to ever difficult question and situation in life, and for his great generosity and never-ending love, my dad is my hero.

You know what’s interesting? I posted about fathers in mine too, without even looking at the rest. Yours is the first one I’ve seen on the list this week, and it’s the same (well, not quite).
Your illustration is lovely, and depicts exactly what you see in your Dad.
Absolutely beautiful.

Hi Irma! Thought I would stop by and check things out. I love your work! I just missed everyone in the chat a bit ago.
This is such a sweet picture and sentiment – and a great tribute to your hero. Dad’s are amazing, huh? I love the way the girl is looking at him….says it all!
