Swirls and curves are so in right now. Actually, they might be so in, that they’re overdone and on their way out. But I don’t care because they are so pretty!

And here’s the kicker. I just learned how to make perfect swirls using the spiral tool in illustrator. OK see… I always knew the tool was there, and I’ve used it before. But to use it to make the type swirls I so desperately? Never crossed my mind it could be so simple. Really, considering the number of years I’ve used Illustrator, it’s shocking how little I know about it. I use it to draw stuff with my nifty Wacom, but then I move everything over into photoshop to fancy it up and finish it off. One day I will sit and take the time to learn more… really…
But anyway, now I know how to make all types of proper swirls. This is a dangerous tool in my hands. I’m sure of it.

Oh man! I haven’t figured out what purpose the swirl tool has. I can kind of see what you mean with that picture though. I’ve only been using Illustrator for 7 months, so I’m sure there’s a ton I don’t know about it yet.
Are you kidding?! Swirls have always been around and will continue to be around! I’ve been obsessed with them for years, and that’s what? like at least 25 years, right?
just go along with it, would ya!
So pretty!
Darn wish I could do stuff like that. Seriously, I can barely freehand a circle properly!
Yep, the swirl is here to stay. It’s such a fun design device. I never get sick of it, although there those who claim they are.
Thanks for stopping by my blog and your nice comment! I really like your blog and your comic strip is adorable. I’ve taken stabs at comics myself. You are inspiring me to try again. This is a fun place, I’m adding you to my feed thingymabob. I must return!
So pretty! I hope curves aren’t on their way out. So much more elegant and natural compared to sharp corners and squares. Great job!
I use illustrator but I have not learnt the swirl tool yet. Another one to learn but I know that I have a lot to learn about illustrator. BTW I love the drawing.
Haha! Okay, I’ll submit to you guys… perhaps the swirl has always been around and always will be. I guess I just never paid much attention!
